Regardless of your immigration status, you have rights guaranteed under the Constitution of the United States. If you are undocumented and police or immigration (ICE) agents knock on your door, know that you have the following rights:

–  You do  not have to open the door or let police or ICE agents into your home unless they have certain kinds of warrants:

– An ICE deportation warrant (Form I-205) is not the same thing as an arrest warrant. It does not allow ICE agents to enter a home without consent.

– You have the right to remain silent even if the agents have a warrant.

– You have the right to speak to a lawyer if you are detained or taken into custody.

– You can refuse to sign any paperwork until you have had the opportunity to speak to a lawyer.

If you have questions or need more information about your rights or any other immigration matter, please contact the Law Offices of Azita M. Mojarad, P.C. by e-mailing us at azita@azitalaw.com or calling 312.641-0771.
