Immigrants face increased scrutiny these days, so it’s encouraging to see the government establish a service that could be helpful in extreme situations.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has set up a 24-hour, 7-days-a-week toll-free hotline. The number is 855-448-6903. Immigrants being detained can call when they have questions about their rights. Translation services are available in several languages from 7 a.m. until midnight (Eastern time).
Once again, Chicago has been a leader in this arena. The hotline also helps immigrants learn about and avoid scams.
And remember, if you have questions about your rights, you can always contact us!
