How Are Immigration Laws Affecting You?

This week, the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments for and against the Arizona immigration law. The Justices seemed to support a state’s right to require its police officers to check the immigration status of people who are stopped for other reasons. But we won’t know how the Court rules for at least several weeks. And some parts of the law seemed less popular with the high court. For instance, the Justices questioned the legality of making it illegal to find work or to not carry certain documents.

Meanwhile, thousands of immigrants and the entire state of Arizona have been impacted. This article from the Los Angeles Times explains the fear that many people have about being a victim of racial profiling and the struggles the state has had financially due to boycotts.
