USCIS Further Extends Deadlines to Respond to Certain Requests Due to COVID-19

On March 30, 2020, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) extended the deadline to respond to certain requests in an effort to assist applicants and petitioners in response to COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the ongoing pandemic, USCIS has since further extended the announced extensions on several occasions.

In its latest announcement, USCIS has indicated that they will consider a response received within 60 calendar days after the due date set forth in the following requests, notices or decisions before taking any action, if they issuance date on the request, notice or decision is between March 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021:

  • Request for Evidence;
  • Continuation to Request Evidence (N-14);
  • Notice of Intent to Deny;
  • Notice of Intent to Revoke;
  • Notice of Intent to Rescind;
  • Notice of Intent to Terminate regional centers; and
  • Motion to Reopen an N-400 Pursuant to 8 CFR 335.5, Receipt of Derogatory Information After Grant.
  • Form I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion
  • Form N-336, Request for a Hearing on a Decision in Naturalization Proceedings (Under Section 336 of the INA)
